Care for wood furniture

Wood is a natural material with variations in grain patterns, knots, texture and colour. The product you receive may differ from the photos in these respects. This is not a defect and adds to the character and natural beauty of every piece. Small cracks and fissures may develop with changes in humidity, temperature or direct exposure to sunlight. This is a natural, uncontrollable characteristic of solid wood furniture.

  • Use protective mats while placing anything hot including electrical equipment such a laptops, anything cold or wet on the surface.
  • Use protective pads while placing anything sharp on the surface and avoid sliding items across the surface which could leave scratches.
  • Use felt pads while placing heavy items on wood.
  • Avoid using solvent based products and wipe down only with a damp cloth.
  • Regular dusting and occasionally wiping down with a damp cloth will help maintain the appearance of your furniture.
  • Placing furniture in unregulated temperatures may cause heat/ temperature damage resulting in fissures, cracks or contraction of hardwood. Always store furniture in a safe, cool and dry area to avoid accidental and heat damage.
  • Avoid outdoor use, exposure to water, prolonged moisture or prolonged exposure to sunlight.
  • Direct exposure to sunlight or placing furniture next to a window or glass door will lead to changes in the finish or colour of wood and heat/ temperature damage resulting in fissures, cracks or contraction of hardwood.  Decor items placed on furniture in direct sunlight will also leave a mark when removed.
  • Placing furniture close to heat sources, such as, a radiator, fireplace, direct sunlight, etc. may cause fissures or cracks in wood.
  • Avoid uneven distribution of weight by using the seat or armrests as a step stool or kneeling.
  • While moving, furniture must not be dragged but always be lifted by two or more people and placed gently to avoid causing damage to the frame or legs.
  • Do not lean back on two legs of chairs as it will weaken the joints.
  • In case of scratches or chipping of wood, please seek professional help.
  • We recommend a wax rub down once a year to maintain the natural sheen of wood.

Care for upholstered furniture

Product photos are shot in professional lighting and while we try and represent colours accurately, there may be slight differences due to lighting and colours on screen versus the actual colour. Our fabric swatches are available for purchase in case you would like to verify the fabric colour before making a purchase.

  • Clean or vacuum upholstered furniture regularly with a soft bristle brush attachment to prevent dust from embedding between the fibres and cause premature fading or wear.
  • Keep sharp objects away, a little tear on the fabric will be hard to repair.
  • Wipe up spills immediately with a dry soft cloth to avoid staining. Gently blot spills on fabric with a white cloth or paper towel, do not rub.
  • Prolonged exposure to sunlight will fade the colour of the fabric.
  • Avoid uneven distribution of weight by using the seat or armrests it as a step stool or kneeling.
  • Sitting on armrests may damage or distort the cushioning. Do not push legs against the armrest or place them on the armrests, as it may cause damage to the frame and arms.
  • Avoid contact with everyday chemicals, such as perfumes, hair and face products which may affect the finish and stain the product.
  • We recommend getting your furniture professionally cleaned periodically and for severe stains.

  • All our ceramics are dishwasher and microwave safe.
  • To retain the quality of your piece and ensure longevity, we recommend hand-washing with a non abrasive cloth or sponge.
